Newman’s Own Inc is expanding distribution of its new line of frozen pizzas to 30% of the United States as of August 2009. The expansion reflects strong performance since first launching Newman’s Own Thin & Crispy frozen pizza into five test markets less than a year ago.

The five varieties of Newman’s Own Thin & Crispy frozen pizzas include Margherita, Supreme, Four Cheese, Roasted Garlic and Chicken, and Uncured Pepperoni. The line is available primarily in the Northeast and western United States, as well as in Minneapolis/St Paul MN, at such retailers as Safeway, Stop and Shop, Dominick’s, Kroger Fred Meyer, Kroger King Soopers, Shaw’s, Hannaford, Demoulas, Harris Teeter, Giant Maryland, and Dominick’s.

In other news, Ford Motor Company and Newman’s Own recently announced their continued commitment to combat hunger by extending their partnership with Feeding America —the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization. In August, through the “Partnership for Hunger Relief,” Ford and Newman’s Own will have donated seven refrigerated trucks, bringing their donation total to 89 trucks in 42 states since the partnership began nine years ago.

The partnership’s refrigerated truck fleet has traveled more than 4.6 million miles—the equivalent of almost 200 trips around the world—providing perishable food to communities at risk. To date, the partnership has delivered 125 million pounds of food, the equivalent of nearly 98 million meals.

Food banks receiving trucks this year include United Food Bank, Mesa AZ; Daily Bread Food Bank, Miami FL; Golden Harvest Food Bank, Augusta GA; The Food Basket Inc, Hilo HI; Maryland Food Bank, Baltimore MD; Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania, Erie PA; and Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Harrisburg PA.
