David Mccorkle, chairman of the board for McCorkle Truck Line, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was honored with TCA's prestigious Past Chairman's Award. The association's highest recognition, it acknowledges industry leaders who make a significant contribution to the business community, the industry, and the TCA.

“David McCorkle has been a true friend to the TCA and to the trucking industry in general,” said Jim O'Neal, TCA past chairman and president of O & S Trucking, Springfield, Missouri. “It was a pleasure to grant him our highest award of recognition.”

McCorkle, a TCA member for 28 years, has held numerous positions within the organization, most notably serving as founding chairman of the Dump Transport Division when TCA was known as the Interstate Truckload Carriers Conference.

He has also worked extensively within the American Trucking Associations, serving as vice president at-large from 1996 to 1997, and state vice president from Oklahoma for the decade from 1986-1996. McCorkle also served as chairman of the board for the Associated Motor Carriers of Oklahoma from 1985-1986.

McCorkle's career began as a truck driver with one truck on old Route 66 near Luther, Oklahoma. Early experience taught him that getting and keeping customers required providing excellent service and more value than his competitors. He built McCorkle Truck Line into a company specializing in dry bulk commodities that operates in 36 states.

Over the years, the company has become a family enterprise, first with LaVern, his wife, and eventually two of their three daughters and all three sons-in-law taking active parts in the business.

McCorkle is a fourth-generation auctioneer and is active in many church and civic organizations.
