Winn-Dixie Stores Inc reported financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended June 27, 2007, and the filing of its Annual Report on Form 10-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Net sales in the fourth quarter for the Jacksonville FL-based supermarket chain amounted to $1.7 billion, an increase of $25.2 million, or 1.5%, compared with the same period in the prior fiscal year. Identical store sales from continuing operations rose 1.3% during the fourth quarter. Net income for the quarter was $20.6 million, versus a loss of $17.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2006.
In fiscal 2007, net sales totaled $7.2 billion, a gain of $68.1 million, or 1.0%, over fiscal 2006. Identical store sales from continuing operations advanced 1.6% for the fiscal year. Net income in fiscal 2007 was $300.6 million, in contrast to a loss of $361.3 million in the previous fiscal year. The company emerged from Chapter 11 in November 2006.
