Choptank Transport, a full-service logistics provider based in Preston MD, was awarded Business of the Year 2012 honors in the 51- to 200-employee category by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce at its annual awards luncheon June 7 in Hanover MD. This is the second time the company has received this statewide honor.

“The Maryland Chamber is thrilled to once again honor Choptank Transport,” said Kathleen T Snyder, president/chief executive officer of the Maryland Chamber. “Small businesses are the heartbeat of Maryland’s economy, and Choptank Transport is an amazing example. The company had achieved impressive growth and built a strong corporate culture by focusing on customer service, employee development, and community involvement.”

“It is an honor to receive this prestigious award from the Maryland Chamber,” said Geoff Turner, Choptank Transport president/CEO. “The award would not be possible without the tremendous work and dedication of our employees and the support from our excellent customers and motor carriers.”

The awards luncheon was held at the Hotel at Arundel Preserve and included a networking and tradeshow event of more than 200 Chamber members. A luncheon followed with keynote speaker Duff Goldman, who is known for his hit Baltimore MD-based Food Network television show “Ace of Cakes.”

Choptank Transport has been a member of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce since 2007. In business since 1999, the company specializes in truckload, refrigerated and frozen, van, flatbed, and less-than-truckload freight. Choptank Transport also offers intermodal capabilities and warehousing.
