Jacksonville FL-based supermarket chain Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. plans to sell the two dairies it operates to Southeast Milk Inc. Located in Plant City FL and Hammond LA, the two plants will maintain full production.

“We have concluded that the sale of our dairies is in the company's best interest as we continue to sharpen our focus on the retail operation of our business,” said Peter Lynch, president, chief executive officer, and chairman of Winn-Dixie, which operates 521 stores.

Based in Florida, Southeast Milk is a cooperative of 300-plus family-owned farms in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The co-op provides milk to most of the southeastern United States.
