C R England Inc, a Salt Lake City UT-based global transportation provider, has received the Chiquita Green Transportation Excellence Award. The carrier was also recognized as a Chiquita Express partner with Ten Years of Dedicated Service.

“We are very pleased to receive a sustainability award and years of service recognition from Chiquita Fresh North America,” said C R England’s Mike Bunnell. “Both awards speak to some of our core values. We strive to research and provide sustainable transportation solutions for our industry, and we are committed to creating successful long-term business relationships with our customers.”

Chiquita Fresh North America LLC, a subsidiary of Chiquita Brands International Inc (NYSE: CQB), evaluates carriers on emissions data as reported by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership. Each year, carriers are required to submit emissions data through a SmartWay tool. Carriers are evaluated on the amount of greenhouse gas emissions they produce as well as what sustainability initiatives they have in place.

“Each year we really look for carriers who go the extra mile with respect to sustainability initiatives,” said Steve Lohman, North American transportation manager, Chiquita Fresh North America. “We know most carriers use aerodynamic packages and other such initiatives, but C R England truly demonstrated taking the extra steps in sustainability with its TempStack intermodal expansion, driver training programs, vigorous testing of numerous technologies including testing of natural gas tractors, and much more. We are very pleased to have a carrier like C R England that holds sustainable transportation solutions so highly.”

Founded in 1920, C R England provides national, Mexico, and regional truckload service in addition to dedicated and intermodal services. Access www.crengland.com for more information.
