Cryo-Trans Inc, (CTI) a builder and lessor of refrigerated railcars in North America, and McCain Foods USA, part of McCain Foods Ltd, announced that CTI will take over management of McCain’s private fleet of mechanically refrigerated boxcars, effective immediately.
To manage the fleet, CTI will fully implement its Rail Management Program with its two-way GPS capabilities in order to create more efficient fleet operations and expedited railcar movements. CTI will also take over all aspects of Mechanical Protective Service for the fleet, using its international network of service providers. The McCain private fleet will soon be supplemented by the addition of new 72-foot interior-length refrigerated boxcars, also manufactured by CTI, and leased to McCain. McCain’s refrigerated fleet will exceed 140 cars with the addition of the new cars.
“The selection of CTI to operate our expanded private boxcar fleet will lead to greater fleet efficiencies and better asset utilization,” said Vito Parise, senior director of distribution, McCain Foods USA.
Lisle IL-based McCain Foods USA employs more than 4,300 people and operates 10 production facilities in Maine, Washington, Wisconsin, Idaho, New Jersey, California, and Nebraska. Its customer base includes McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Arby’s, and Wal-Mart.
