US Foods, one of the nation’s leading food companies and distributors, has agreed to acquire Glover Wholesale Company. Glover is a foodservice distributor based in Americus GA.
Founded in 1892 by George Washington Napoleon Bonaparte Glover as a wholesale distributor, the company generates more than $90 million in annual sales. It serves approximately 2,500 customers throughout Georgia, eastern Alabama, and northern Florida.
“Glover is a strong company that has made a name for itself as a reliable food distributor, dedicated to customer success,” said Keith Campbell, south region president of US Foods. “Adding Glover’s business in the Southeast will enable us to introduce US Foods’ unique brand, innovative food culture, and trend-setting products to new customers and expand our coverage throughout the region.”
David Harris, president and chief executive officer of Glover, will join US Foods as director–business development in central Georgia.

The transaction is expected to close in early October 2012. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
