Four high school graduates will attend college this autumn with a little less concern about paying tuition, thanks to Dot Foods, the Mount Sterling IL-based food redistributor.

Kristen Buss, Taira Fowler, Haley Holland, and Jacob Smith—all children of Dot employees—were named recipients of Dot’s scholarship program. Fowler and Holland were selected from nominees named at Dot’s eight distribution centers, representing the Maryland and Indiana distribution centers, respectively. Buss and Smith were chosen from the Mt Sterling area. The graduates receive a renewable scholarship based on full-time student status and GPA requirements.

“These students were not only successful academically in high school, but were involved in their schools and communities, through athletics, student council, honor societies and volunteer programs,” said Peggy Perry, Dot’s corporate recruiter. “We look forward to seeing them flourish in the next level of education and are thankful we can provide some financial assistance.”

Mt Sterling resident Buss plans to attend John Wood Community College in Quincy IL before transferring to Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville, where she will major in biology. Fowler will attend Spellman College in Atlanta GA this fall and major in engineering. Holland, of Connersville IN, will start at Purdue University in the fall and major in pharmacy. Smith, of Camp Point IL, will attend Quincy University and major in biology, before planning to enroll in Southern Illinois University’s School of Dental Medicine.
