Smiths Detection announced that Seattle WA-based Jetsream Freight Forwarding Inc has purchased a HI-SCAN 100100T-2is X-ray system to meet Transportation Security Administration (TSA) air cargo screening mandates.
Jetstream Freight Forwarding, a TSA Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF), will primarily use the explosives detection scanner to screen perishables from local growers in the Pacific Northwest and California. The company also ships time-sensitive cargo around the world.
Mark Laustra, vice-president of Homeland security, Smiths Detection, said, “We are pleased Jetstream selected our advanced X-ray system, which enables them to meet CCSF requirements and will help them continue to provide outstanding customer service. Smiths Detection strives to offer proven screening systems that meet the business needs of freight forwarders and indirect air carriers.”
The HI-SCAN 100100T-2is is a medium-aperture X-ray inspection system specially designed for screening oversize baggage and bulky freight. The scanner provides dual views of objects, enabling reliable examinations of tightly packed freight in a single pass, thus shortening inspection times.
Bryan Jennings, president of Jetstream Freight Forwarding, said, “Smiths Detection’s HI-SCAN 100100T-2is is a perfect fit for our needs. With the volume of shipping we do, the dual-views make the scanning process more efficient and faster than ever, allowing us to meet both our customer’s critical deadlines and the TSA’s CCSF requirements.”
