Performance Food Group Company is expanding its 80,000-square-foot Performance Foodservice Roma–Springfield MO distribution facility. The expansion will add 35,000 square feet to the current facility and provides PFG with significant capacity for growth.
Mac Pearce, president and chief executive officer of Performance Foodservice, said, “This expansion project is part of our continued investment in growing Performance Food Group. It is one of several facility expansions we have underway.”
Performance Foodservice Roma–Springfield MO serves more than 1,500 customers throughout a nine-state area that includes pizzerias, Italian and Mexican restaurants, as well as regional chains. The expansion is expected to add more than 40 new jobs over the next five years to the existing workforce of 100-plus employees.
“This is wonderful news for our community and our economy,” said Springfield Mayor Jim O’Neal. “This is another example of a company taking advantage of Springfield’s prime distribution location in the nation.”
Tom Babik, president of Springfield Business Development Corporation, the economic development arm of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, said, “PFG has made a significant commitment to Springfield, and certainly its expansion is indicative of the fact that Springfield is a great place for businesses to grow.”
