ConGlobal Industries Inc (CGI) has reached an agreement to acquire the business and assets of Refrigerated Container Services (RCS) Group from Carrier Transicold. The change in ownership will take place once the transaction is closed, which is expected to occur January 1, 2013.

RCS specializes in refrigerated container services, parts distribution, tank servicing, and global ship spare parts management services. It has facilities in five US locations, including Houston TX, Los Angeles CA, Miami FL, Newark NJ, and Oakland CA.

“We have always admired the RCS Group for their exceptional technical capabilities, depth of experience, and professionalism,” said Mike Baldwin, president and chief executive officer of CGI. “The acquisition of RCS will be an excellent complement to our company, allowing CGI to expand our refrigerated service offerings and become the largest independent refrigerated container parts distributor in the world. Our intent is to make this transition not only seamless to our customers, but also to provide a positive experience for everyone impacted by this announcement including our customers, employees, and suppliers.”

CGI, headquartered in San Ramon CA, is a full-service supplier to the intermodal industry. The firm provides equipment repair, maintenance, storage, and redistribution services to global shipping and leasing companies. It provides transportation services to reposition equipment and manage large or special delivery projects. The company is built on a network of 20 locations in the United States, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
