Calavo Growers Inc has entered into a marketing and distribution agreement with Agricola Belher of Mexico, a producer of fresh vegetables—primarily tomatoes—for export to the United States. A procurer and marketer of fresh and processed avocados and other perishable foods, Calavo plans to introduce its own brand of tomatoes later in 2007.

In conjunction with the agreement, the Mexican company will be making substantial investments in infrastructure to support the new program. Agricola Belher exports 90% of its production to the United States.

Tomatoes produced by Agricola Belher will be marketed under the Calavo brand, using the latter firm’s three depots in Santa Paula CA, San Antonio TX, and Swedesboro NJ, plus its two market locations in Los Angeles CA and Nogales AZ.
