Freshway Foods is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Started by co-owners Frank and Phil Gilardi, the company originated with five workers in an 8,000-square-foot facility. Today, Freshway operates in a state-of-the-art, 100,000-sq-ft facility in Sidney OH with more than 400 employees. Many of these have served at Freshway for more than 20 years.

“We are very proud to see so many dedicated associates at Freshway Foods. Our ability to recruit, hire, and maintain a loyal workforce is a significant competitive advantage in our industry,” said Frank Gilardi, chief executive officer.

The company’s distribution area now covers more than 60% of the US population and led to the creation of Freshway Logistics in 2003. With a fleet of 41 power units and 53 trailers, this unit provides rapid-response logistic services to customers east of the Mississippi River from Maine to Florida.

Freshway continues to deliver many benefits to its foodservice, retail, and broadline customers. Some of these benefits include convenience, consistency, reduced preparation time, 100% usable product, labor cost reduction, and a strong emphasis on food safety and quality. While the company focuses on new product development for foodservice and retail customers, Freshway also supports nationwide initiatives to provide healthier food in schools.
Looking ahead Freshway recognizes the importance of maintaining and expanding its workforce.

“We are very fortunate that our surrounding community provides us with plenty of support. We very much look forward to celebrating many more milestones of growth with our family of associates,” said Phil Gilardi, president.
