The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Manitowoc Foodservice as a 2010 Energy Star Partner of the Year for its contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing energy-efficient products and helping to educate consumers about those products. Manitowoc Foodservice’s accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony March 18, 2010, in Washington DC.

Manitowoc Foodservice, an Energy Star partner since 2001, will be honored for its leadership in manufacturing products that earn the Energy Star, the government-backed symbol of energy efficiency. The company plans to continue investing in research and development leading to commercial foodservice equipment that is good for the industry and the environment. In 2009, its new product development, product line extensions, and model upgrades increased its Energy Star portfolio by approximately 140 models—an increase of more than 50%.

Mike Kachmer, president of Manitowoc Foodservice, said, “We’re not just selling an ice machine or fryer; we’re going beyond to address customer needs such as energy conservation, operating efficiency, and culinary R&D. It is an honor to have our ongoing efforts recognized by the EPA.”

Energy Star Partner of the Year award winners are selected from more than 17,000 organizations that participate in the program.

In 2009, Americans with the help of Energy Star saved $17 billion on energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 30 million vehicles.

Manitowoc Foodservice is a division of The Manitowoc Company Inc.
