In Addition to a large exhibition of equipment, technology, software, and service providers, this year's Foodservice Distribution Conference & Expo included 44 workshops that focused on operations, transportation, technology, and human resource issues. These sessions were designed to present methods and ideas for dealing with the many issues and challenges faced by the various segments of the foodservice industry.

Among the matters dealt with during the three-day event held October 7 to 9 in Louisville, Kentucky, were work incentives for drivers, recruitment and retention of warehouse employees, controlling cost through better routing, and hybrid vehicles and equipment. Issues impacting foodservice trailers, tips for more effective interviewing of job applicants, and best practices of foodservice distributors also were presented.

Coverage of the meeting begins here. Additional coverage will be presented in Refrigerated Transporter's January issue.
