Networkcar, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hughes Telematics, is changing its name to Networkfleet. The name change and corresponding new brand image reflects the company's sole focus on helping commercial and government fleets to increase operating efficiency and reduce costs. The company also announced its recent move to a larger, newly renovated building in San Diego CA to expand its headquarters. This new building nearly doubles the company's office space to accommodate current and future growth.
Networkfleet was the first to develop a wireless diagnostic monitoring system that connects directly to a vehicle's on-board diagnostic OBD-II port. Approaching its 10-year anniversary, the company and its affiliates now have more than 50 patents issued or pending surrounding vehicle diagnostics. In 2006, it was acquired by Hughes Telematics, a developer of vehicle information-based technology and services.
