Performance Food Group to acquire Fox River Foods

Dec. 13, 2012
Performance Food Group Inc has entered into an agreement to acquire Fox River Foods Inc, an independently owned broadline foodservice distribution company.

Performance Food Group Inc (PFG) has entered into an agreement to acquire Fox River Foods Inc, an independently owned broadline foodservice distribution company serving seven states throughout the upper Midwest. This transaction is expected to close before the end of 2012.

“The addition of Fox River Foods will significantly strengthen our position in the region and in several key metropolitan areas, particularly Chicago,” said George Holm, PFG president and chief executive officer. “This acquisition supports our strategic growth plans and will offer added value to existing Performance Foodservice and Fox River Foods customers.”

Fox River Foods began operations in 1956 and currently serves more than 7,000 customers in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, and Minnesota. Its clients range from fine dining establishments to family restaurants, schools, healthcare facilities, child care centers, hotels, and concessionaires.

Based in Montgomery IL, Fox River Foods recently expanded its warehouse there, increasing its storage capacity to 326,000 square feet, including refrigerated, frozen, and dry storage areas.

“Our customers, suppliers and associates will surely benefit from this alliance between Performance Foodservice and Fox River Foods,” said Ken Nagel, president of Fox River Foods. “Combining their national scope and purchasing power with our reputation for personalized customer service and strong operations should prove to be a winning formula in this region.”

Through its foodservice distributors—PERFORMANCE Foodservice, Vistar, and PFG Customized Distribution—PFG delivers more than 98,000 national and proprietary-branded food and food-related products to more than 128,000 independent and national chain restaurants, quick-service eateries, pizzerias, theaters, schools, hotels, healthcare facilities, and other institutions through its 69 distribution centers and 13 Merchant’s Mart locations across the United States. Richmond VA-based PFG employs more than 10,000 people nationwide. For more details, visit www.pfgc.com.
