Critical issues in cold storage construction and operations are addressed in two white papers published recently by the International Association for Cold Storage Construction (IACSC) and the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW).
Members of the IACSC-IARW Construction/Codes Committee spearheaded development of the white papers, which include:
• Application of Automation within a Public Refrigerated Warehouse, which assesses the application of automated storage and retrieval systems in public refrigerated warehouses.
•Solar Photovoltaic System Guidelines, which discusses the pros and cons of solar systems, different types of solar technologies, and mounting systems. It helps identify the optimal solar system for public refrigerated warehouses based on their specific requirements as well as potential challenges before installation.

The white papers are available electronically via the GCCA website, free of charge to members of IACSC or IARW. The papers are also available for sale to non-members.
