A Duie Pyle prepares for winter season, expands Protect From Freeze

A Duie Pyle, provider of asset and non-asset-based transportation and supply chain solutions in the Northeast, announces the expansion of its Protect From Freeze (PFF) service, as the carrier prepares for the 2015-16 winter season.

Pyle’s PFF service enables customers that ship water-based products to transport less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments with full protection from freezing temperatures. The company has added 46 heated/insulated trailers this season, making the PFF fleet of close to 500 heated/insulated trailers the largest in the region. Pyle has also added new heated transportation service centers in Westampton NJ and Wilkes-Barre PA to enhance its network of all-weather facilities.

“Providing a comprehensive freeze protection service that’s available to all customers, without interruption, requires sustained investments in equipment, infrastructure, training, and technology,” said Randy Swart, Pyle’s chief operating officer. “Our customers depend on our experience to ensure temperature-sensitive shipments are protected throughout the entire Northeast region including the Mid-Atlantic, New England, and New York state.”

The PFF service consists of heated service centers and heated/insulated trailers for linehaul, pick-up, and delivery operations providing 24/7 protection. These initiatives and investments are supported by temperature-sensitive load planning and routing technology. Each Pyle service center is equipped with on-site, company-owned snow removal equipment and independent emergency power sources to protect customers’ shipments and assure continuous operations during the most severe weather events.

“As the temperature drops, many carriers refuse to handle temperature-sensitive shipments, causing supply chain uncertainties and delays,” said Swart. “In contrast, Pyle’s dependable PFF service is available to our customers without interruption, regardless of temperature or day of the week.”

For the 2014-15 winter season, Pyle delivered more than 60,500 PFF shipments, an 8% increase from the prior winter season.
