Leaders have to make decisions in complex and dynamic environments. This requires the ability to think more critically in assessing the value and risk of different courses of action, defending decisions, and communicating conclusions to different stakeholders.

During this general session, Yael Grushka-Cockayne of the UVA Darden School of Business will focus on developing critical thinking capability and the ability to lead groups toward more effective decisionmaking. Professor Grushka-Cockayne will emphasize effectiveness in making decisions and understanding risks, and help participants understand how to balance intuition with thorough analysis. Whether you’re an upcoming leader or a veteran, you will gain valuable takeaway in problem-solving and critical thinking.

If you run operations that serve foodservice customers, you know continuous improvement is as much a part of success as order accuracy and on-time delivery. To have precision, winning operations, you have to seek out improvements and solutions. Improving operations delivers dollars to the bottom line. It makes you a better distributor to your customer. That ultimately defines where you will be a year or even a decade from now.

From technologies to material handling equipment to solving people problems, the DSC provides insights and resources for improving warehouse and transportation operations. The conference is scheduled for October 26-28, 2015, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix AZ. For more information, call 703-532-9400 or access www.ifdaonline.org.
