PeopleNet, a Trimble company and provider of fleet mobility technology, has certified Zebra Technologies’ TC70 mobile computer to run PeopleNet software. This certification allows fleets to deploy proprietary apps, third-party programs, and PeopleNet software all on the same device.
Certification of the TC70 supports the growing industry demand for company-owned, personally enabled (COPE) devices. PeopleNet aims to give companies greater access to a range of commercial-grade mobile devices, matched to individual trucks, with the framework to support multi-platform accessibility and enterprise mobility management.
“Not only does the certification of the TC70 give drivers the ability to use a highly durable and functional device, but it also allows fleets more choices in selecting the right technology to enable increased efficiencies in their business,” said Tom Fansler, executive vice-president, product for PeopleNet.
The Android-based TC70 includes a barcode scanner and camera, ideal for data capture in the foodservice and private fleet industries. This handheld device can also withstand extreme conditions and operate reliably after multiple 6-foot/1.8-meter drops onto concrete and within a temperature range of –4° to 122° F (–20° to 50° C).
