As a proud supporter of the Omaha NE community, transportation and logistics provider Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ: WERN), has announced its sponsorship of Horses of Honor Omaha, a public art exhibition in Turner Park benefiting the Omaha Police Foundation.

The exhibit, featuring eight life-size horse statues each honoring the life of a fallen hero of the Omaha Police Department and individually designed by an Omaha area artist, was unveiled in a ceremony at Turner Park recently. Werner is sponsoring fallen officer James “Jimmy” Wilson, who was slain during a traffic stop August 20, 1995. Wilson’s art teacher Paul Hundtoft painted Werner’s statue, and Werner maintenance associates Brian Forbes, special projects manager, and Ron Bryant, body mechanic, applied the final clear coat.

“Werner Enterprises is honored to commemorate a true hero in the Omaha community and pay tribute to the life of Officer Jimmy Wilson,” said Derek Leathers, president and chief executive officer. “We are thankful for all of the men and women of the Omaha Police Department who serve to prevent crime, save lives, and make Omaha a safer city.”

A tribute concert was held May 21 in Turner Park at Midtown Crossing. The project will be displayed for a year before the horse statues are sold in spring 2017 with the proceeds benefiting the Omaha Police Foundation.
