Vero rolls out LTL service for produce, perishable cargo

Vero Logistics, a Florida-based refrigerated carrier, has announced its new LTL program for produce and perishable cargo originating in Florida and Georgia and shipping to destinations throughout the United States.

The company’s state-of-the-art fleet of 50 trucks and trailers come with GPS tracking on each tractor and trailer, as well as temperature monitoring in each trailer to protect the cold chain.

For more than eight years, Vero has specialized in produce and floral hauling nationwide, and its drivers are familiar with the unique challenges of this niche.

Vero’s Avi Epstein said, “We realized there was a demand from our customers to provide comprehensive LTL service out of Florida and Georgia to the rest of the country, and we created this program to meet the demand.”

The carrier has a full complement of staff to service each load. A dedicated customer service department focuses on communicating updates, issues, and load details to each of Vero’s customers. All appointment times, PO numbers, and piece counts are double-checked for every load, which helps avoid problems with a shipper or consignee.

Vero’s partnership with nationwide full-service lease providers has eliminated 99% of downtime associated with equipment failure. In this way the firm is able to concentrate solely on its operations and customer service while still offering customers the advantages of well-maintained equipment with a national provider’s network.

The company has managed to grow its fleet during the recent industry slump. It offers an aggressive benefits package that includes free health, dental, and vision with a national health provider; retention bonus every six months; and a guaranteed weekly pay minimum.

Daniel Gray, driver manager and recruiter with Vero, said, “Drivers here feel like they are being looked after and protected by the company—and not left to the damage of a slow freight market.”
