Ben E Keith Company announces the completion of the warehouse expansion for its Oklahoma Division, located in Edmond OK.

The 18-month project included a 134,000-square-foot expansion with the installation of the Dematic Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). The three automated cranes will provide Ben E Keith with the flexibility to fulfill orders and perform warehousing functions with maximum efficiency.

Included in the expansion is the installation of an underground storm shelter and a robotic sanitation system to ensure cleanliness of refrigerated delivery trailers. The addition increases the total square footage of the existing warehouse, originally opened in January 2006, to 471,724 square feet. The warehouse currently stocks more than 18,000 SKUs.

“We are excited to have completed this expansion project,” said Kirk Purnell, Oklahoma Division general manager. “The additional space enhances our ability to support our growing customer base in Oklahoma, Kansas and western Missouri. It improves our ability to provide premium choices for our customers, and increases efficiencies and food safety practices throughout the operation.”

The Oklahoma Division has 480 full-time employees and has been recognized for four consecutive years as one of the “Top Work Places in Oklahoma” by The Oklahoman.

Established in Fort Worth TX in 1906, Ben E Keith is the nation’s eighth-largest broadline foodservice distributor and operates with eight divisions shipping to 14 states nationwide.
