Leonard’s Express plans to use “artificial decision intelligence” to harmonize its asset and brokerage operations for “optimal performance and profitability” through a new partnership with Optimal Dynamics.

Artificial decision intelligence technology employs a “scientific” approach to optimization, absorbing all data points from requirements to preferences, planning holistically throughout the network, and accounting for future uncertainties that arise, according to Optimal Dynamics, a New York-based software company.

Removing the guesswork and enabling refrigerated carriers to make “swift, confident” load acceptance and dispatch decisions also unlocks continuous improvement, the company said.

“After extensive market research and vendor evaluation, we found Optimal Dynamics to have the science, the technology, and the team to transform our internal operations,” Michael McGovern, Leonard’s Express executive vice president of operations, said in a news release. “Optimal Dynamics will ensure peak performance and enable us to efficiently scale the business.”

Leonard’s Express lauded Optimal Dynamics’ “sophisticated” technology and team after a collaborative proof-of-value initiative, which demonstrated their potential to optimize the carrier’s network, maximize asset utilization, and elevate profitability, the companies reported. Leonard’s Express expects artificial decision intelligence to enhance the driver experience by delivering improved miles, home-time alignment, and “heightened synergy” with company objectives.

Simultaneously, planners stand to gain from optimized load acceptance recommendations, enabling swift, confident decision-making devoid of reliance on gut feeling and manual calculations.

“We are excited to partner with Leonard’s Express, prioritizing advancements in driver experience and operational efficiency,” said Daniel Powell, Optimal Dynamics co-founder and CEO. “Our partnership is anchored in a shared vision to empower carriers with artificial decision intelligence that enables organizational scale and increased throughput.”
