Sept. 13, 2012
Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, the manufacturer of refrigerated trailers, dry freight vans, flatbeds, and Tautliner curtainside trailers, has expanded its refrigerated trailer manufacturing plant in Marion VA.

Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, the manufacturer of refrigerated trailers, dry freight vans, flatbeds, and Tautliner curtainside trailers, has expanded its refrigerated trailer manufacturing plant in Marion VA.

The company has constructed a new 50,000-square-foot modification center for high-option and complex refrigerated trailers and an additional employee lunchroom. This expansion will increase production capabilities to meet growing demand for high-option reefers while allowing for increased production of more standardized trailers.

The expansion also includes the acquisition of more than 100 acres of property adjacent to the facility to accommodate additional parking for up to 1,400 trailers. Brad Starkey, manager of Utility’s Marion plant, expects the full expansion to be completed in late October 2012. The Marion plant is one of five trailer manufacturing facilities across the United States. In addition to the Marion plant, Utility has expanded its Glade Spring VA and Paragould AR dry van plants this year.
