BioStorage showcases mobile biorepository for relocating samples
BioStorage Technologies showcased Relofleet, the first mobile biorepository designed specifically for sample relocation within North America, at the recent Drug Information Association (DIA) annual meeting.
This sample-transport technology allows for customized transportation of entire sample inventories and associated equipment, while assuring the shipment reaches its destination on time and in optimal condition.
The custom-made, 53-foot trailer accommodates all temperatures from frozen to room temperature and can simultaneously transport a multitude of biomaterials, clinical trial samples, and manufactured drugs. Equipped with redundant generator systems, the unit also allows BioStorage Technologies to transport freezers and refrigerators with or without samples.
Relofleet contains a built-in, mobile workstation that conforms to US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR Part 11 compliance standards and provides audit tracking of samples from site to site within the BioStorage Technologies ISSIS (Intelligent Specimen Inventory Storage System) database. Sample asset security is provided in-transit via 360° internal and external tracking and monitoring provided by 12 security cameras.
“Designed to respond to a growing need for compliant and cost-effective solutions for shipping temperature-sensitive biological samples and materials, Relofleet is the first of its kind,” said Russ Hager, global director of supply chain, BioStorage Technologies. “With its multiple uses and innovative technology, Relofleet allows our specialized team of logistics experts to provide door-to-door, full-scale support during the entire sample lifecycle management process.”
