CARB verifies Johnson Matthey’s particulate filter

April 15, 2009
Johnson Matthey’s ACCRT system is the first filter verified by EPA and CARB for heavy duty diesel retrofit technology.

Johnson Matthey’s ACCRT (Advanced CCRT) system, the second generation benchmark CCRT filter technology for 2.5g nitrogen oxides (NOx) EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and non-EGR engines, has been verified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for reducing particulate matter by more than 90%, while meeting CARB’s stringent nitrogen dioxide (NO2) requirements.

The ACCRT system uses three distinct catalytic formulas specifically engineered for optimum performance. Upstream, an oxidation catalyst coated on a flow-through substrate optimizes conditions for the second, downstream catalytically coated wall-flow filter to burn off virtually all particulate matter.

The third catalyst, an NOx decomposition catalyst, then reduces NO2.

As the global pioneer and leader in controlling emissions from mobile and stationary sources, Johnson Matthey’s filter is the first filter verified by EPA and CARB for heavy duty diesel retrofit technology.
