TKO CruiserWeight Door with Wind Load Package
TKO Dock Doors announced that its CruiserWeight Door with Wind Load Package has received Florida Building Code Approval as well as the industry’s first Notice of Approval from Miami-Dade County for hurricane-susceptible areas and high wind load environments.
Overhead dock door damage is a common problem for busy loading docks. Most damage is due to fork truck and load impacts, but facilities along the coastline and some inland areas have another problem to be concerned with: hurricane force winds and tropical storms. High wind pressures that result are prevalent and dangerous to these structures.
To provide a remedy for lift truck impacts, TKO created the CruiserWeight Door. On a daily basis, the door wards off the most abusive fork truck impacts to door panels and tracks.
Besides creating a door that can withstand common impacts inside the building, TKO engineers went a step further to design, test, and receive approval on the optional Wind Load Package. As a result of the door’s rugged design and rigorous testing, the CruiserWeight with Wind Load Package is approved for high wind load environments.
Able to withstand pressures of +52 and –67.5 pounds per square foot, the TKO door has received Florida Building Code Approval #FL13014 as well as the Notice of Approval, NOA #11-0513.04 Miami-Dade County, Florida, for sectional doors, including the High Velocity Hurricane Zone rating. The awarding agency, Miami Dade County’s Building and Neighborhood Compliance Division, has created stringent building codes and approval tests.
