Isuzu Commercial Truck of America's 2009 N-Series line-up of low cab forward trucks has new features to increase driver productivity, enhance fuel economy, and reduce emissions. Models are available in GVWRs ranging from 12,000 to 19,500 pounds, with wheelbase choices from 109 to 212 inches to handle bodies from 10 to 24 feet in length.
All Isuzu diesel trucks are 50-state “Clean Idle Certified,” meaning they are certified to emit 30 grams per hour or less of nitrogen oxides (NOx) while idling.
The N-Series diesel models incorporate a Data Recording Module that can provide a Vehicle Health Report showing the condition of the engine, transmission, emissions, and brakes, plus fuel economy and driver operating habits.
These trucks are powered by an overhead cam 5.2-liter turbocharged, intercooled Isuzu diesel engine that delivers 205 hp at 2,400 rpm, with 441 lb-ft of torque at 1,850 rpm. It is mated to an Aisin heavy-duty, 6-speed automatic transmission with double overdrive.
N-Series trucks are available with a Vortec 6.0-liter V-8 gasoline engine that generates 325 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque. These models come with a Hydra-Matic 4-speed automatic with lockup torque converter and overdrive.
For longer brake life, 2009 N-Series models have an Electronic Braking Distribution system that balances brake pressure to all wheels by automatically adjusting to the load's weight distribution.
Front suspensions, spring rates, steering, and cab mount bushings have been tuned for more comfort and a better ride.
The truck cab has generous headroom, shoulder room, and legroom, with abundant storage areas, including big door panel map pockets. Large panoramic windows provide exceptional visibility for driver safety.
To extend durability, the cab has rust and corrosion protection provided by galvanized steel panels, electro-deposit paint primer, and enamel paint topcoat. Unitary construction, rigidity, and strong reinforcements add to cab durability and safety.
Isuzu low cab forward trucks have been the best-selling low cab forward brand in the US every year since 1986, company officials said. Of the 400,000 Isuzu-built diesel trucks sold in North America since 1984, more than 83% are still registered and in service, as are over 99% of the gasoline models sold since 1993.
