VentureClad cooler repair tape
Refrigeration contractors now have a critical tool to help supermarkets, restaurants, and other institutions with walk-in coolers and food storage units reap savings in labor and maintenance costs. Venture Tape Corp’s cooler repair tape, VentureClad 1577CW, offers high performance in cold temperatures.
VentureClad 1577CW is a zero-perm, washable, conformable, mold-resistant cooler repair tape that can be applied in temperatures well below zero. It is a derivative of Venture Tape’s VentureClad outdoor product and is specifically designed for refrigeration repair.
“Typically, panels in walk-in coolers present lots of opportunities for leakage, energy loss, and mold build-up in the seams, “said Chuck Bronner, manager of HVAC products for Venture Tape. “Caulking doesn’t work in cold temperatures, looks bad, and is not mold-resistant. The facility owner risks being cited by local health officials and having to repair the unit, which can be labor- and time-intensive.”
A case in point comes from refrigeration contractors working for Jadeco Company, a Tampa FL-based commercial refrigeration company.
“We needed an adhesive that could work in cold temperatures and be easy to apply,” said Jim Brennan, co-owner of Jadeco. “So we tried VentureClad cooler repair tape from Venture Tape. We use VentureClad when we change out evaporators to seal holes and to give a neat, clean look. It holds really well, and we’ve seen no deterioration. We use the cooler repair tape with our largest customers and are beginning to use it with other customers who see the results and are now asking for it.”
VentureClad 1577CW is coated with Venture Tape’s “CW” cold weather acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive system. It combines quick stick at normal temperatures with temperature performance down to –10° F.
Provided in white or silver, VentureClad 1577CW has mold inhibitors. In addition to in-store refrigeration units and walk-in coolers, it can be used to repair cooler light fixtures, industrial food and beverage storage units, refrigerated trucks, and any institutional foodservice storage areas where metal surfaces are exposed to cold. VentureClad is embossed and adheres well to embossed surfaces many cooler units have.
