Electronic Tracking System Supplier List for TRUs offered

The California Air Resources Board has posted on its website the Electronic Tracking System Supplier List for transport refrigeration units equipped with electric standby and hybrid electric.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has posted on its website the Electronic Tracking System (ETS) Supplier List for transport refrigeration units (TRUs) equipped with electric standby and hybrid electric (both referred to as E/S).

A direct link to this list is www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/tru/documents/ets_supplier_list.pdf.

The ETS Supplier List will be updated periodically as GPS tracking system suppliers show CARB they understand the requirements for automated monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. This list is not intended to imply CARB endorsement or recommendation of any kind. Users of this list are advised to use due diligence in evaluating offerings from companies on the list.

If a TRU owner is using E/S to comply with in-use performance standards, the TRU regulation requires ETS to be used by January 1, 2013, on 50% of a fleet’s TRUs that are using E/S to comply. Then, by January 1, 2014, all TRUs using E/S to comply must be equipped with ETS. Manual recordkeeping is required until these deadlines. ETS includes automated monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting, with GPS tracking.

CARB’s guidance for E/S and ETS provides more details on requirements and may be downloaded at www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/tru/documents/guidance_electricstandby_ets.pdf.

For general information about the TRU regulation, access www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/tru/tru.htm. Questions about compliance or registration can be answered via the TRU Help Line at 888-878-2826, or call 916-327-8737.
