Reviva, a company that specializes in remanufacturing gas and diesel engines, is now offering remanufactured diesel-fueled transport refrigeration units (TRU) that exceed the Tier 2 emissions standards required by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

The first phase of compliance, for model 2001 and older TRU engines, starts this December 31, 2008.

“Instead of having to retire refrigerated trailers that have the targeted TRU engine, or go to the expense of replacing the reefer engine with an expensive new one, fleets now have the option of using a Reviva CARB-approved drop-in replacement engine,” said the company's Melissa Sawin.

The reman'd engines are looked upon as 2007 model year engines for purposes of compliance, she said, and are compliant until January 1, 2015.

“All Reviva engines are remanufactured to meet or beat OEM specs, using only OEM or equivalent components,” said Sawin. “Every engine is 100% dyno tested, and has a 1-year/unlimited hours warranty coverage.”

At present, Reviva is remanufacturing the Kubota engines used in Carrier Transicold TRUs.

The company, which remanufactures engines for other TRU manufacturers, is developing additional engine offerings for compliance with upcoming CARB TRU emissions standards.
