Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp has introduced its newly redesigned 4,500-lb-capacity electric walkie truck, the EJE 120, designed for loading and unloading trailers, as well as transportation of loads over short and medium distances.

Built especially for the US market, the EJE 120 provides a 58.7-inch (short compartment version) turning radius, a 24V-150Ah industrial battery with integrated charger, and Jungheinrich’s AC drive motor and controller technology. The Pro-Trac-Link stability caster system is optional.

A head length of 19.4 inches combined with the truck’s ability to operate with the handle in the vertical, or upright, position allows for effortless “pinwheeling” within a truck trailer. A shorter overall length also simplifies positioning of a load on a liftgate when exiting the trailer.

The EJE’s rounded fork tip design and hardened, bulldozer-grade steel pallet entry slides ease pallet entry, while steel exit rollers ensure a smooth pallet exit.

Featuring a 24-volt, three-phase AC drive motor, the EJE 120 ensures optimal energy management while offering longer operating times, powerful acceleration, and a fully loaded speed of 3.7 mph. Since the EJE 120’s AC drive system is free of carbon brushes and directional contactors, it is virtually maintenance-free. AC drive also lets the EJE 120 respond smoothly and quickly to an operator’s commands.

Jungheinrich’s electronic speed control system allows stepless speed control, even on gradients. On ramps, the vehicle automatically brakes to prevent rollback.

Other features of the EJE 120 include standard metal stability bars that limit tipping during quick maneuvers. The Pro-Trac-Link stability caster system links two load bearing casters via a torsion bar. Standard safety features include a low-mounted control handle that maximizes the distance between the truck and operator and a large, “instant reaction” emergency disconnect switch.

A cold storage option is available, suitable for use in applications down to –40˚ F. This option provides further protection for the EJE 120’s components against cold and moisture. It features chrome-plated axles, grease fittings at major pivot points, freezer-rated hydraulic oil and grease, sealed connectors and switches, and temperature-resistant cables. The standard AC drive motor, controller, and tiller are sealed. When combined with the cold storage option, the EJE works efficiently and reliably in refrigerators and freezers.
