W&B Service Company L.P. has entered into an agreement to sell a 20% ownership stake to four of its senior managers. These dedicated managers — Teresa Murphree, Russ Mullennix, Joe Smart, and Michele Windle — have agreed to purchase ownership in W&B, and each has accepted a position as Vice-President.
John Chisolm is the majority owner of W&B, which he purchased from Frozen Food Industries. The new owners will form a corporate board to plan W&B's future growth and expansion.
Murphree, who had been serving as Director of Administration, has been employed by W&B since June 1995. Before that, she was Vice-President of Administration for Thermo King. Mullennix, previously Southern Region Sales Manager, has worked for W&B since joining the firm from Carrier Corp in June 1993. Smart, formerly Regional Manager and a W&B employee since January 1993, previously owned a transport refrigeration service company that serviced the Texas Valley. Windle, who had been W&B's Director of Management Information Systems (MIS) and an employee since February 1995, formerly was a manager for a title insurance company.
Founded 60 years ago, W&B ranks as the oldest and largest Carrier Corp dealership. In 1947, Cy Weller and Walter Brooks formed W&B Refrigeration Service Company to service the needs of a growing market for hauling refrigerated goods from California and the Texas Valley throughout the rest of the United States. As a result of this expertise, they were awarded a Transicold dealership. This company grew and prospered and ultimately was purchased by Chisolm. It has received numerous awards from the refrigerated transport industry.
With 18 locations that service Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and northern Louisiana, W&B is a service and repair company for all types of transport refrigeration equipment. It currently is an authorized dealer for Carrier and Hercules products and services.
