CryoPort Inc is increasing its line of deep frozen shipping containers with the introduction of the CryoPort Express high-volume dry vapor liquid nitrogen shipper. The new shipping container can accommodate much larger shipments of cryogenically frozen biological materials.
“The CryoPort Express high-volume shipper creates new market opportunities by providing pharmaceutical companies, CROs (clinical research organizations), and diagnostic labs the option of increasing the size of each shipment or shipping larger specimens,” said Larry Stambaugh, CryoPort’s chairman and chief executive officer. “This new shipper was in response to demand by customers who were impressed with the performance of the CryoPort standard shipping container and were looking for the same capabilities when making larger shipments.”
Similar to CryoPort’s standard shipper, the new high-volume container is based on the company’s proprietary dry vapor technology, using liquid nitrogen in an absorbent material that provides extended endurance of below –150° C for 10 days. The high-volume liquid nitrogen dry shipper is completely reusable and recyclable, making it highly sustainable and cost effective for transporting life science materials. The high-volume liquid nitrogen dry shipper can store up to five 5" x 5" x 2" cryovial boxes, or six Tyvek bags for shipments from 450 up to 500 vials.
The company has begun making shipments with the new high-volume container for selected customers that expressed the initial desire for this capability.
