Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) was awarded the Best Telematics Service & Application for Commercial Vehicles award by Telematics Update for its new RunSmart Predictive Cruise system.

Developed by DTNA together using digital map data from NAVTEQ, the RunSmart Predictive Cruise can increase fuel economy when operating on rolling terrain.

Introduced at the 2009 Mid-America Trucking Show, RunSmart Predictive Cruise is a proprietary technology that evaluates the upcoming road profile more than one mile in advance using GPS and ADAS attributes in the NAVTEQ map. The system adjusts the actual speed of the truck for maximum fuel efficiency based on terrain.

RunSmart Predictive Cruise is now available as an option for a Detroit Diesel DD15-equipped Freightliner Cascadia with a 72-inch raised roof.
