The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has announced it will delay enforcement of the Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) In-Use Performance Standards.

This delay will be for six months after the initial compliance date of December 31, 2008, or six months after authorization approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, if approval occurs after the initial compliance date.

The delay has come about because EPA has not yet made a decision on CARB’s request to authorize it to enforce the in-use performance standards.

Additionally, the submittal deadlines for the CARB Identification Number (IDN) applications and Operator Reports will be delayed. The compliance deadline for these submittals was to have been January 31, 2009.

CARB TRU Advisory 08-15 provides more details. It can be accessed at www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/tru.htm.
