The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has revised its TRU Advisory 08-15, which discusses the six-month administrative enforcement grace period for the first phase of the Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) Airborne Toxic Control Measure’s (ATCM) in-use performance standards.

The grace period for the first in-use performance standard—model year 2001 and older TRU engines—ends July 17, 2009.

Questions related to this grace period are answered in the revised advisory.

A new Q&A section has been added to address what owners and operators should do if they are taking advantage of the grace period and cannot get an CARB Identification Number for a noncompliant unit by the March 16, 2009, registration deadline.

TRU Advisory 08-15, Revision 2, is available at the TRU website at www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/tru.htm. Scroll down to the "Advisories" section or click on the "Advisories" link in the left navigation bar.
