In response to the growing use of overseas (intermodal) shipping containers by the US trucking industry, Rite-Hite has introduced the RHR-4000 Dok-Lok vehicle restraint.

The RHR-4000 rotating hook restraint adds another layer of safety by securing overseas container chassis, which can have a plate or obstruction above the rear impact guard (RIG), while maintaining its exclusive hook design that provides a large wrapover RIG. This restraint also offers a water- and dust-resistant IP66-rated motor and a longer-lasting, corrosion-resistant finish that meets the ASTM B117 testing standard.

Rite-Hite was a pioneer of the vehicle restraint industry with its original Dok-Lok in 1980. Like previous Dok-Loks that have been engineered to meet logistical challenges of the time, the new RHR-4000 helps prevent all types of trailer separation accidents, including early departure and landing gear collapse, as well as trailer creep, pop-up, upending, and tipover.

The RHR-4000 “shadow hook” adds another layer of safety to secure container chassis or RIGs with obstructions. Dok-Lok rotating hook restraints are also designed for impact and to withstand increasingly frenetic loading dock environment, with an enhanced track for better performance.

Intermodal traffic is estimated to be increasing at between 14.4% and 19.2% per year. Additionally, the US Department of Transportation projects that international container traffic will more than double by 2020.

All Rite-Hite restraints come standard with the Rite-Vu Light Communication System, including Corner Vu (which provides immediate Dok-Lok status-at-a-glance to the forklift driver before entering the trailer) and Leveler-Vu (which confirms Dok-Lok status to the forklift driver while inside the trailer).
