Responding to customer requests for a more rugged regional truck tire, Continental Tire North America Inc has enhanced its HSR1 (Heavy Steer Regional) tire’s performance capabilities for pick-up and delivery applications.

Continental’s HSR1 will now feature a curb/scuff rib feature in the 245/70R19.5 size. This new feature helps prevent damage conditions caused from curbing, cuts, and abrasions and protects the casing for greater retreadability.

The HSR1 tire is an all-position truck tire produced at Continental’s manufacturing plant in Mount Vernon IL. The tire also has pyramidal stone ejectors in all the tread grooves to reduce stone retention, a tread pattern designed for superior wet traction, and a tread compound that is designed for long life in the regional hauling and on/off-road applications.

“All of the durability features of the HSR1 tire, including the new rib design, will help pick-up and delivery fleets reduce their overall driving costs through increased tire life,” said Clif Armstrong, Continental’s director of marketing for commercial vehicle tires–The Americas.

In addition to the 245/70R19.5 size, the HSR1 is available in 285/70R19.5; 305/70R19.5; 255/70R22.5; 275/70R22.5; 295/80R22.5; and 315/80R22.5 sizes.
