Truck-Lite recently showcased its custom LED headlights for the truck market. The high-performance, custom-engineered LED headlights offer superior nighttime visibility and enhanced safety for Class 8 trucks.

The new LED headlights were initially developed for military use and offer increased durability, visibility and safety. Manufactured in the United States, this forward lighting technology has been proven on vehicles serving in the Iraqi and Afghan theaters since 2007.

Truck-Lite’s LED headlights offer improved driver visibility through their more natural light, leading to improved object recognition at night and increased daytime visibility. The LED beam pattern also reduces eye strain for drivers and lessens harsh headlight glare to oncoming traffic. Another benefit is a significant reduction in amperage draw on the vehicle’s electrical system, freeing up power for other uses and resulting in a 50-times-longer lighting system life than conventional halogen technology. Vigorous field testing, subject to extreme weather and environmental wear, substantiated the lamps’ ability to far outlast the halogen option.

Truck-Lite’s current custom headlight is designed for the Freightliner Cascadia model, available as an aftermarket retrofit option from Freightliner dealers across North America. Due to the need for overall increased safety for additional Class 8 truck platforms, Truck-Lite’s mission is to develop new custom headlight options suitable for other models.
