KES Science & Technology Inc, a global provider of postharvest preservation technology, announced that Coosemans Atlanta will include the NASA-developed AiroCide food safety preventive controls air sanitation technology in its Atlanta GA facility.

Because airborne cross-contamination poses a threat to food safety, the chemical-free AiroCide system provides added protection to enhance quality assurance. It kills airborne mold, fungi, bacteria, and viruses as well as removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as ethylene gas.

For more than 30 years, the name Coosemans has been at the forefront of the specialty produce business. The company operates locations in some 15 US cities, as well as in Canada, Central America, South America, and Europe.

KES received these comments from Coosemans: “Since installing AiroCide, it has enhance our specialty produce items, and in turn we are getting extended shelf life on many of our items. Needless to say, we are happy with the performance of AiroCide.”

The Food Safety Modernization Act enables the US Food and Drug Administration to better protect public health by strengthening the food safety system. The focus is now more on preventing food safety problems rather than relying primarily on reacting to problems after they occur. AiroCide provides this preventive measure.

AiroCide is manufactured and distributed by Atlanta-based KES. Visit www.kesair.com for more information.
