Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, producer of refrigerated trailers, dry freight vans, flatbeds, and Tautliner curtainside trailers, has added trailer roll stability protection from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC on the 3000R base model refrigerated trailers as standard.
Utility says it is the first trailer manufacturer to include roll stability as standard on its refrigerated trailers.
“Trailer roll stability systems can dramatically improve a fleet’s safety, and we believe that the technology is ready to begin integrating this specification as a standard and not as an optional feature,” said Craig Bennett, senior vice-president –sales and marketing for Utility. “We will begin by adding this important safety component on our base model reefer trailers beginning with orders received in January 2015.”
Utility is including the Bendix TABS-6 Advanced with Bendix Trailer Roll Stability Program (TRSP). The system combines anti-lock braking (ABS) with a set of trailer sensors, which monitor stability and can quickly and automatically trigger braking intervention when detecting conditions that may lead to a trailer rollover. It is available in single-channel (SC) and optional multi-channel (MC) configurations.
Founded in 1914 and celebrating its 100th anniversary, Utility operates five trailer manufacturing facilities across the United States. Its 3000R and the 3000R multi-temp refrigerated trailers are manufactured at its Marion VA and Clearfield UT plants. The 4000D-X Composite and 4000D-X plywood lining dry vans are manufactured at Glade Spring VA and Paragould AR plants. The 4000A, 4000S, dropdeck and double flatbeds as well as the Tautliner are all manufactured at the Enterprise AL facility. Utility also has an independent dealer network with more than 100 locations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and South America.
