Thermo King, a manufacturer of transport temperature control systems for various mobile applications and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, has presented Target with the 2015 Energy Efficiency Leader Award at Target’s Rialto CA distribution center.
Target was recognized for its use of efficient refrigeration units that deliver innovative ways to optimize energy, increase efficiencies, and significantly reduce fuel consumption in its transportation operations in Rialto and nationwide.
Each year, Thermo King presents its Energy Efficiency Leader Award to organizations within the temperature-controlled transportation industry that have shown significant achievements in efficiency and sustainability. Target was chosen as the 2015 award recipient due to its outstanding commitment to this criteria:
•Protecting the world’s health through safe, secure, and efficient transport of biopharmaceuticals.
•Furthering food safety with sustainable practices throughout the cold chain.
•Increasing industry productivity and efficiency.
Through use of efficient refrigeration units, companies can meet their goals to reduce pollution within transportation operations and comply with both US Environmental Protection Agency Tier IV Final and California Air Resources Board emissions requirements. Companies can meet these environmental requirements by using diesel direct electric technology, which allows the engine to run cleaner and eliminates the need for an expensive, high-maintenance aftertreatment system such as a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
Significant improvements using efficient refrigeration units in inbound and outbound transportation has resulted in Target exceeding its 2015 goal for operational efficiencies.
Ingersoll Rand and its Thermo King and Trane brands continue to research and award organizations within the temperature-controlled transportation and quality indoor environment industries that have committed to more efficient and sustainable operations.
