WITH a theme of “Driven by Innovation,” Great Dane showed off its range of customizable refrigerated equipment during the inaugural North American Commercial Vehicle Show (NACV Show). The event was held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, from September 25-28.

“For over 100 years, Great Dane has been committed to American innovation,” said Chris Hammond, Great Dane’s executive vice-president of sales. “We showed how innovation continues to keep our customers ahead of the curve with products that drive value while ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of goods.”

Among the items on display at Great Dane’s booth were:

A 53-ft Everest single-temperature refrigerated trailer with Great Dane’s patented ThermoGuard liner enhanced with Microban broad-spectrum anti-microbial protection that helps fight bacteria growth, stains, and odors for the entire life of the trailer.

This reefer trailer included Great Dane’s new FleetPulse telematics system, which provides basic pre-trip inspection checks, in-route maintenance alerts, and preventative maintenance schedule notifications to drivers and fleet managers while on the road.

Several safety features were highlighted on this trailer, including Great Dane’s new RIG30 rear impact guard, Hendrickson MAXX 22T air disc brakes, and high-output interior LED strip lighting. Finally, the trailer featured many GHG2-compliant options, including a WABCO OptiFlow aerodynamic side skirt, Bridgestone Ecopia R197 low rolling resistance tires, and Hendrickson TIREMAAX PRO automatic tire inflation system.

A 24’6” Alpine S-Series refrigerated truck body featured Great Dane’s patented ThermoGuard liner enhanced with Microban broad-spectrum antimicrobial protection. Great Dane also partnered with lightweight metals engineers from Arconic to develop a prototype lightweight, aluminum rear frame for the Alpine. This frame provides a 45% weight savings over the previous stainless steel design. Other features on this sheet and post truck body include a curbside door with Great Dane’s blade lock, 1.32-inch aluminum reefer cargo Safety-Grip floors, two rows of full-length horizontal logistics track, and a Grote interior motion sensor dome light. It was mounted on a Hino 268 chassis.

Finally, Great Dane displayed a 10’5” Johnson R-Series fiberglass composite refrigerated truck body with six automotive style doors with keyless entry and six interior and exterior LED strip lights above each door header that are illuminated with the keyless entry. This truck body also featured ArcticTherm seamless fiberglass interior lining, recessed exterior LED DOT clearance and cluster lights, and a 4” stainless steel tubular bumper. Other features included a back-up alarm, a camera system with proximity sensors, and an LCD rear view camera and LCD color monitor. The body was mounted on a Ford Transit chassis.

The Great Dane booth included a display highlighting the company’s aftermarket services. Company representatives demonstrated new aftermarket service event management software, which will provide more transparency around service events, fewer manual processes, and more connected processes to simplify estimate creation and improve billing efficiency.
