Hyundai Translead recently expanded Breadner Trailers’ role to include dealership support for Xcient fuel cell trucks in Canada. The company, which produces commercial transportation equipment and trailer products, said the agreement broadens access to hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles in the Canadian market.
Breadner Trailers, an Ontario-based reefer trailer dealer and transportation equipment provider, will support commercial deployment of the Xcient fuel cell truck as hydrogen-powered freight operations continue to grow across Canada. Hyundai Translead said the trucks are currently operating in several hydrogen mobility projects in British Columbia, including the BC Hydrogen Ports Project, the H2 Gateway Project led by Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation (HTEC), and the Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles Project overseen by Innovate BC.
According to Hyundai Translead, 11 Xcient fuel cell trucks are currently operating in Canada. As of January of this year, the truck platform has accumulated more than 12 million cumulative driving miles in Europe and nearly 1 million miles in North America.
“We are pleased to work closely with Hyundai Translead to support the introduction of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck solutions for sustainable transportation in Canada,” Robert Breadner, president of Breadner Trailers, said. “The advanced technology and proven performance of the Xcient fuel cell truck are expected to create new opportunities with commercial fleets and strengthen long-term engagement within the Canadian market.”
