ComEd's Hybrid Step Van

Chicago's Commwealth Edison (ComEd) utility worked with hybrid systems maker Odyne and Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) to build a unique step van diesel-electric hybrid with plug-in recharging capability. Crfated onto FCCC's MT-55 chassis, the truck's hybrid system is designed to export electrical power to allow for "engine-off" operation in support of underground utility crews.
