Nestle USA chooses EcoPower re-refined engine oil for fleet

July 15, 2013

Nestle USA has switched its private fleet of Class 8 tractors over to EcoPower engine oil from Safety-Kleen. EcoPower is a re-refined engine oil meets or exceeds all applicable specifications set by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), Safety-Kleen said.

It also is approved by and conforms to all major OEM recommendations for engine oil and for diesel and natural gas engines is available in 15W-40 CJ-4/SM, 10W-30 CJ-4/SN and NGP 15W-40.

“EcoPower makes solid environmental and business sense,” said Curt Knapp, executive vice president - marketing and oil re-refining sales, Safety-Kleen. “It takes 42 gallons of crude oil to make the same amount of high-quality motor oil as obtained from recycling one gallon of used motor oil. And EcoPower doesn’t just conserve resources; it keeps used motor oil out of our land and ground water. Plus, it meets or exceeds manufacturers' warranty standards.”

According to Safety-Kleen, for every 100 million gals. of re-refined engine oil used, 650 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions are eliminated.

“Using EcoPower reduces greenhouse gas emissions and helps to protect the environment,” said Mike Desso, director corporate environment and safety, Nestlé USA. “Switching to EcoPower for our private fleet is one example of how we are managing our business in a way that is supportive of the environment.”
